Reserve Officers

The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department Reserve Officer Unit provides thousands of volunteer hours annually of assistance to the public safety department. They provide neighborhood and business checks, assistance at community events, transporting of prisoners, traffic direction, and general patrol. 

Required Training:

Reserve officers receive training in first aid, officer safety, defensive tactics, weapons training, vehicle lockouts, report writing, scenario-based training, and use of police radios and other equipment. New Reserve Officers are required to complete 20 hours of field training. After formal training, Reserve Officers are required to volunteer 10 hours a month.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Must be in general good health
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record

Application Process:

If you are interested in joining the Police Reserve Unit, please contact us. Applications are available online, or may be picked up at the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department (640 Town Center Parkway), Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Completed applications should be submitted to the same address. Interviews will be conducted with qualified candidates.
