Chris Bragelman

On May 19, 2013, Sergeant Chris Bragelman died of a heart attack while off duty.  Sgt. Bragelman started his career with the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Centennial Lakes Police Department before being hired by Lino Lakes in 2004.  Chris is survived by his wife, Emily, and three children.

Brandon Carlson

On November 23, 2006, Reserve Officer Brandon Carlson's life ended tragically when he lost control of the motorcycle he was driving while off duty.  He was immediately transported to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.  Brandon joined the Reserve Unit in March 2006 and was very proud to serve as a reserve officer.  He had almost completed a law enforcement degree at Century College and was looking forward to a career as a police officer.

Shawn Silvera

Shawn Silvera

On September 6, 2005, Officer Shawn Silvera was killed in the line of duty while assisting in a high-speed chase on I-35W. Officer Silvera was struck by the suspect’s car after deploying stop-sticks. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  Shawn made the ultimate sacrifice while serving to protect the citizens of the State of Minnesota.  In 2006, the legislature passed a bill to designate a portion of I-35W from the site of the incident north in his honor.  Signs have since been installed designating the roadway as "Officer Shawn Silvera Memorial Highway."  

Steve Bikkie

Steven Bikkie

On May 19, 2000, Officer Steve Bikkie was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.  He was on his way home to pick up his police uniform so that he could report to work.  He was immediately transported to Regions Hospital where he remained unconscious for a week.  On May 27, 2000, he died from his injuries.  Steve joined the police department as a community service officer on October 5, 1998 and was promoted to officer on March 1, 1999.
